A Family-Owned Business with Roots in the Sweet Bologna Business

The Daniel Baum Company was born out of a third-generation family business active in manufacturing fermented sausage products. Baum’s Bologna has been producing our tasty, gluten free, cold smoked Sweet Bologna for over 100 years. The discovery of a new process to speed up the fermentation of our sweet bologna revealed exciting new applications in animal agriculture, which resulted in the founding of the Daniel Baum Company in 1984. Today, we continue to maintain our ties with the family bologna business while becoming a leader in delivering solutions for health, productivity, performance and wellness for livestock and companion animals around the globe.

Over the next several decades, DBC Ag Products^® developed, launched and expanded the Nutri-Core poultry line that provides health and nutritional solutions for millions of conventional as well as organic layer flocks, from the hatchery to the laying house. Helping our customers produce safe, wholesome eggs for families across the United States.

In addition, we launched innovative new products for calves, lambs, kids and backyard poultry, including First Arrival^® w/Encrypt^® in 2006, Last Stand^® w/ImmWave^® in 2011, and Backyard Chicken^® Health Pack (Oxy E-100, HealthyFlock^® Tabs & Zyfend^® A) in 2012.

We further expanded our family of brands in 2017 with the acquisition of KAUFFMAN’S^® Premium Equine Supplements, Fortitude^® Canine Supplements and the LIRA GOLD^® brands.

In 2009, Tom Baum, VP & CFO of the Daniel Baum Company, with another partner and a team of avid hunters and animal experts who are passionate outdoorsmen, started Head Gear LLC. Our products provide the most advanced nutritional science and animal health technology for wild and farmed deer to help grow healthy, fast-growing deer, including fawns, does, bucks and big antlers.

Based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the Daniel Baum Company is led by Dan Baum who combines a degree in agriculture from Penn State University with almost 40 years of experience in microbiology, enzymology and immunology. Joining Dan is his brother Tom Baum, Vice-President and CFO, who brings several decades of agricultural business and public sector experience to the company.

In addition, our staff has practical expertise in business, agriculture sales and animal health across multiple species. We are ready to answer questions and help with the solutions you need.
